Engineering work is taking place in the Redhill area, closing all lines to / from Redhill.

Southern

Replacement buses will run between Horley and Purley.

There will be no replacement bus service at Eastwood and Salfords. Valid tickets will be accepted on the Metrobus 100 service for these stations.

Replacement buses will run between Purley and Reigate.

Buses replace trains between Redhill and Tonbridge.

Thameslink

Trains will be diverted between Purley and Eastwood and will not call at stations via Redhill.

Replacement buses will run between Horley and Purley.

There will be no replacement bus service at Earlswood and Salfords. Valid tickets will be accepted on the Metrobus 100 service for these stations.

Trains which usually run between London Bridge and Horsham will not run.

Engineering work is taking place between Petts Wood and Orpington, closing all lines.

Thameslink:

Replacement buses will run between Herne Hill and Swanley via Bellingham, with some late night services amended to run to / from London Blackfriars instead of Herne Hill.

Trains that usually run between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks will be amended to run between Swanley and Sevenoaks only.

Additionally:

  • The 06:46 Orpington to London Victoria service will start from Bromley South. A replacement bus will run from Orpington to Bromley South.
  • The 07:16 Orpington to London Victoria service will start from Bellingham. A replacement bus will run from Orpington to Bellingham.

Southeastern:

It is not yet known how Southeastern will be affected by this engineering work.

Engineering work is taking place between Swanley and Kemsing / Sevenoaks, closing the line.

Southeastern

Trains between London Victoria and Orpington will be diverted to run via Denmark Hill.

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Denmark Hill and Bromley South via Herne Hill and Beckenham Junction.
  • Bromley South and Strood (all stations except Sole Street).
  • Meopham and Sole Street (minibus service).
  • Bromley South to Borough Green & Wrotham until 14:00.

Brixton station will be closed all day but you can use London Underground services between Brixton and London Victoria at no extra cost.

Thameslink

Trains will be diverted between Bickley and Sevenoaks via and calling additionally at Petts Wood.

Buses will run between Bromley South and Sevenoaks calling at all stations via Otford.

Additionally, the 06:46 Orpington to London Victoria service will not run. A replacement bus will run between Orpington and Bromley South. The 07:44 London Victoria to Sevenoaks service will start from Orpington at 08:40.

Engineering work, part of the East Coast Upgrade, is continuing throughout 2021, closing all lines to and from Kings Cross and Moorgate, therefore there will be no trains to these stations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

PLEASE NOTE: If you're travelling between Brookmans Park, Welham Green, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn North, Knebworth and London you have two journey options, your Great Northern and Thameslink tickets will be valid for these routes:

  • Train to Potters Bar, then replacement bus between Potters Bar and Cockfosters London Underground, to connect with Piccadilly Line services to Kings Cross St Pancras. This will show in journey planners, such as National Rail.
  • Train to Potters Bar, then replacement bus between Potters Bar and St Albans City, to connect with Thameslink trains to and from London St Pancras. Journey Planners, such as National Rail, will need you to add 'St Albans City' as a via option to show these services. In addition to Journey Planners, downloadable timetables for Friday 26 February are available below. Friday:

An amended and reduced train service will run between:

  • Cambridge and Potters Bar.
  • Peterborough and Potters Bar.
  • Stevenage and Gordon Hill via Hertford North.
  • New Barnet and Welwyn Garden City.

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Potters Bar and Cockfosters (London Underground) via Hadley Wood.
  • Gordon Hill and Alexandra Park (calling at all stations). Bowes Park is within walking distance of Bounds Green London Underground station.
  • Hitchin and Luton Airport Parkway (for Thameslink services to / from London).
  • St Neots and Bedford (operated by LNER, connecting at Bedford for Thameslink services to / from London).

    LNER:

    On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 2 trains per hour will run to / from St Neots. Other trains will start / terminate at Peterborough and some trains will be cancelled. Trains will not call at London Kings Cross or Stevenage.

    Replacement buses will run between St Neots and Bedford to connect with trains between Bedford and London St Pancras International.

    Customers should be aware that there will be major engineering work in the London Kings Cross area from 26 February to the 6 June inclusive, more information on this can be found here.

    Project Information:

    London Kings Cross station currently carries 33.8 million passengers per year, and is a major hub for both local and long distance train services.

    Major upgrade work will take place, upgrading and simplifying the track layout around the station for the first time in 40 years.

    Two new lines will also be added, increasing the number of services that can run to / from the station, as well as allowing for faster train services.

    Grand Central between Sunderland / Bradford Interchange and London Kings Cross Great Northern between Kings Lynn / Ely and London Kings Cross Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Hull LNER between Aberdeen / Edinburgh / Newcastle / York / Leeds / Doncaster and London Kings Cross Thameslink between Cambridge and London Kings Cross

    Engineering work, part of the East Coast Upgrade, is continuing throughout 2021. From Friday 26 February to Sunday 6 June, the last block of the work is expected to be completed.

    Three major closures of London Kings Cross station will take place during this period:

    • Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February.
    • Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April.
    • Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June.

    Between these dates, engineering work will still be taking place.

    Currently, Hull Trains and Grand Central services are suspended until further notice because of Covid-19. If services are affected by this engineering, more information will be posted here.

    A summary of the work can be found below, with more specific details being provided from each train operating company once known:

    Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February:

    No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park.

    Specific alterations that each train company will make can be found here.

    Monday 1 March to Thursday 22 April:

    A temporary reduced timetable will operate to / from London Kings Cross. 

    Weekends:

    LNER will run a reduced timetable to / from London Kings Cross, with trains diverting and extending journey times by up to 15 minutes. Trains departing London Kings Cross will start earlier than usual. Trains between London Kings Cross and Leeds will run hourly. Other LNER services will be amended to start at / terminate at Peterborough instead of London Kings Cross.

    No LNER trains will run to / from Lincoln on Sundays.

    Monday to Friday:

    Grand Central will be running a reduced timetable.

    LNER will running three trains per hour to / from London Kings Cross, with other services running to / from Peterborough instead of London Kings Cross, or cancelled throughout.

    Friday 23 April:

    No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross.

    Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 April:

    No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross, Moorgate or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park.

    Monday 26 April to Thursday 3 June:

    A temporary reduced timetable will operate to / from London Kings Cross. 

    Friday 4 June:

    No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park from the early afternoon.

    Engineering work is also taking place just north of Peterborough. Many customers will need to use a rail replacement bus for part of their journey. 

    Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 June:

    No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park.

    No trains will run between Grantham and Peterborough, due to the work taking place north of Peterborough. Rail replacement buses may be required for part of your journey.
