Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds concert at Preston Park
Friday 31 July
An afternoon and evening concert, headlined by ‘Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ is taking place in Preston Park (Brighton), on Friday 31 July.
We have been working closely with the event organisers, Brighton & Hove City Council and the Police on the arrangements to help people get to and from the event safely.
We’ll be running some services with extra carriages to provide more room. However, our trains and stations in the Brighton area are expected to be very busy, with people attending the Nick Cave concert, as well as coming into the city for Brighton Pride which is taking place over the weekend of 1 and 2 August.
Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys, as there may be queues to board trains at busy times and you may not be able to get on your chosen service.
If you’re going to the Nick Cave concert, to help you on your way here are some additional points to bear in mind:
- Please use Brighton station to get to or from the event. The station can handle large numbers of people and is accessible.
- Preston Park and London Road stations will be closed from 17:00 on Friday 31 July, with no trains calling at either station after that time:
- The last southbound Thameslink train to call at Preston Park will be the 16:38 service to Brighton.
- The last southbound Southern train to call at Preston Park will be the 16:50 service to Littlehampton.
- The last northbound train to call at Preston Park towards London will be the 16:55 Southern service to London Victoria.
- The last westbound train to call at London Road will be the 16:56 service to Brighton.
- The last eastbound train to call at London Road will be the 16:59 service to Eastbourne.
- To speed up your journeys, buy your train tickets before you travel, including for your return home. Please remember that Oyster cards and Contactless payments are not valid for journeys to or from Brighton.
- Plan your return journey home in advance. Be sure to check the times of your late-night trains to your destination at nationalrail.co.uk
- We strongly advise you allow additional time to get back to Brighton station, as it may take longer than usual given the crowds who will be leaving the event and heading back to the station.
- The rear entrance at Brighton station (Stroudley Road) will be closed. To get into the station please use the main front entrance on Queens Road.
- A queuing system will be in place to get into the station and on to trains leaving the city late at night, so be sure to give yourself plenty of contingency time before your last train departs.
