Yearly train service targets

On this page you’ll find Govia Thameslink Railway’s performance targets for the period of our franchise, and details of what we do to meet them.

What we measure

We’ve set a number of performance goals for the duration of our franchise. But we particularly watch these four key measures:

  • Public Performance Measure – the percentage of trains that arrive at their destination within five minutes of their scheduled time
  • Delay minutes per thousand train miles, when the delay is caused by us
  • Cancellations
  • Short formations – trains that run with fewer carriages than scheduled during peak hours

Changes we’re making

We plan to hit our performance targets by:

  • restructuring the timetable
  • addressing faults more quickly by improving efficiency at our depots
  • replacing old stock with reliable, state-of-the-art trains
  • introducing a central reporting system for drivers so we can deploy them more efficiently
  • working together with Network Rail staff so we can promptly adjust services if there are problems

Want to see how we’re doing?

Keep an eye out for posters at your local station detailing performance on your route. Or for more general updates, see our performance for the current period or read the latest edition of our customer report Connections
