  • Disruption between Streatham and Peckham Rye expected until 16:00
    Show details
    Hide details

Two earlier points failures at Tulse Hill meant that trains were unable to run London-bound between Tulse Hill and London Bridge. Network rail who own and maintain the track have fixed these faults.

Other earlier incidents on the network have also caused further disruption to services. As a result, trains may be delayed by up to 15 minutes, revised or cancelled until 16:00.

Incidents that have caused disruption include:

    • A points failure at Hove which prevented trains from using platform 2 for a short while.
    • A points failure caused by ice at Newhaven Harbour which resulted in some alterations.
    • A points failure at Littlehampton prevented trains from leaving the depot and resulted in two cancellations.
    • Train faults at several locations across the network.
    • An earlier fault with a level crossing at Havant was affecting services between Chichester to Portsmouth Harbour/Southampton Central. Services had to be stopped at a signal and wait for permission from the signaller to continue onwards. These services also had to run at a reduced speed over the level crossing to allow the driver more time to react should there be any cars on the level crossing.

On busy routes, where trains need to run to a very tight schedule, problems like these can cause knock-on delays on both the main route where the problem has arisen and on the routes that connect to it that can continue for hours afterwards.

Thameslink services will also be affected as they are becoming caught up in the congestion.

Ticket acceptance is in place on the following routes:

    • London Buses between West Croydon on reasonable routes.
    • London Overground between Shepherds Bush/Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace/West Croydon and Canada Water.
    • London Underground on all reasonable routes including between London Victoria and Euston.
    • Tramlink between Beckenham Junction and Wimbledon via Croydon.
    • Southeastern between Beckenham Junction/Peckham Rye and London.
    • Southern and Thameslink have a mutual ticket acceptance.
