Rail fares are changing

The Department for Transport has announced that rail fares are set to rise by an average of 5.9% on 5 March 2023. To minimise the impact on rail users, this figure is 6.4 percentage points lower than RPI (a measure of inflation historically used to determine rail prices).

All money from ticket sales is passed back to the government to help run and improve the railway.

If you have a trip coming up, secure your tickets at current prices by purchasing them directly on our website before 5 March 2023. This includes tickets with a travel date post 5 March.

Thameslink offers a wide range of affordable and flexible ticket types, including Kids for £2, Advance tickets, GroupSave that can save you up to 34% on your journey, as well as a range of railcards that enable discounted travel. Thameslink strives for customers to receive best value for money during their travels. What’s more, when you book directly on our website, no booking fee is applied to your transaction.

Check out our online calculator to discover best season ticket options, depending on how often you plan to travel.
