Herts Big Weekend 2020

Take Thameslink to Herts Big Weekend 2020

We are proud to be the Official Travel Partner of Herts Big Weekend 2020, organised by Visit Hertfordshire. This event showcases the best of the county’s wonderful and wide-ranging attractions over the 4th and 5th of April 2020. One of the most convenient and sustainable ways to get to and around Hertfordshire is by train, so take Thameslink to explore the best of this beautiful county.

Children looking at animals through a fence, at Hatfield Park Farm

Experiences on offer this year include visits to Knebworth House and Hatfield House, fun on the farm at Hatfield Park Farm and Willows Activity Farm, plus delicious meals and relaxing afternoon teas for two.

Hertfordshire residents can enter the ballot for tickets from February 20th, but if you’re not a Hertfordshire resident, and still see something that catches your eye, there’s no reason to let that stop you visiting one of the many attractions involved.

Full details can be found on the Visit Hertfordshire site.

Getting to Hertfordshire

Save yourself the hassle of driving and parking and get the train to and around Hertfordshire for the big weekend. Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern all service the county, from St Albans to Hatfield to Hemel Hempstead, and many of the attractions are within walking distance of railway stations.

Looking to save money on the train fare? There are several ways to cut the cost of your train ticket to enjoy Hertfordshire days out for less. For instance, travel at Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak times to enjoy up to 1/3 off adult fares, and up to four kids can travel for just £2. Or, why not see if you’re eligible for a Railcard, and take advantage of discounted fares. Those wanting to make a day of it with a group of friends, travel outside busy periods in a group of 3-9 adults to obtain a 1/3 off with GroupSave.
