Major service changes 2015-2018 during London Bridge work

How your journey will be affected during the rebuilding of London Bridge station.

Changes to services

Until May 2018, services in and out of London Bridge will be affected as follows:

  • Thameslink Bedford to Brighton cross-London services will not call at London Bridge but will take an alternative route between London Blackfriars and East Croydon
  • A half-hourly Thameslink service will operate between London Bridge and stations to Brighton off peak on Mondays to Fridays and between 06:30 and 22:00 on Saturdays, with only a very limited service at peak times
  • Journeys between East Croydon and London Blackfriars are 10 to 12 minutes longer than before, and some services will be altered at other stations
  • Not all peak services on the Bedford to Brighton route will call at Elephant & Castle
  • Thameslink services will call at Redhill at peak times to an amended timetable
  • Thameslink services to and from Luton Airport Parkway will not serve London Bridge
  • Services between Ashford or Rochester and Bedford will only operate between Ashford or Rochester and London Blackfriars. Passengers should change at London Blackfriars for their onward journey
  • Between August 2016 and early 2018, Southeastern trains to and from London Cannon Street will not call at London Bridge
  • Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 December 2017, no trains from St Pancras to Blackfriars. London Bridge low level platforms closed. Thameslink North side services will start and terminate at St Pancras. Southern services will be diverted to Victoria
  • Monday 25 December - Monday 1st January, no trains from St Pancras to Blackfriars. Thameslink North side services will start and terminate at St Pancras. Thameslink South side services will start and terminate at London Bridge
  • May 2018 – normal service. Thameslink services will still be diverted via Crystal Palace. Thameslink London Bridge Brighton services will operate as usual

How to get from Blackfriars to London Bridge

Thameslink services that previously called at London Bridge still serve London Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and London St Pancras International as normal. You may find it easier to travel directly to or from these stations. If you need to get from Blackfriars to London Bridge to continue your journey, here’s how.

On foot

London Bridge is a 17-minute walk at a medium pace along the Thames Path from London Blackfriars south bank exit and 23 minutes from the north bank exit.

By bus

Take bus 17 (from the north bank) or buses 381 or RV1 (from the south bank)

By tube

Walk or take local buses from London Blackfriars to Southwark and use the Jubilee line.

From 2nd January 2018 until 20th May 2018

Customers travelling from Thameslink North stations to London Bridge who hold a London Thameslink ticket. These tickets continue to be valid for use on the Northern line between St Pancras International and London Bridge.

Additionally, as Thameslink services will not be running between London Bridge and London Blackfriars until 20th May, customers with a valid ticket travelling between London Bridge and London Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras International may use the following routes:

  • Northern Line between London Bridge and St Pancras International;
  • Southeastern service to London Cannon Street then District or Circle Line to London Blackfriars. Customers can resume their journey from London Blackfrairs

Buses will no longer accept tickets.

These arrangements will come to an end on 20th May when Thameslink services are reinstated.
