Luton Airport Parkway railway station is preparing for the launch of the airport’s Direct Air-Rail Transit (DART) system.
DART is a transit system formed of two automated shuttles, which will cut the 2.1km journey between airport and railway station to under four minutes.
It's all part of a strategy to help increase rail traffic to the airport, and together with Thameslink train services, means a step-change in how passengers get to the airport, with fast, easy access between railway station and the airport. You can find out more about DART here.
New lifts, escalators and an upgraded station
The arrival of the DART also brings a major upgrade for Luton Airport Parkway that will transform the station.
A new dedicated DART terminal has been built next to the station. This will connect directly to station platforms via a brand-new footbridge, two new lifts and three new escalators with more escalators providing ease of access within the DART terminal building. This means improved step-free access to all platforms, benefitting every station user.
