Cycle events on our network

Cycle events in 2016

We are aware of a number of cycle rides taking place in 2016. As most cycle rides take place on the weekend, it is the off peak period and therefore (as per our cycle policy) there are no restrictions to carrying regular (non-folding) cycles on our services. However, as services are likely to be busy we may have to implement a queuing system at affected stations, so participants are advised to allow extra time for their journey home.

British Heart Foundation - London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 19 June 2016

For the safety and comfort of passengers using Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express services the weekend of this BHF London to Brighton bike ride, there will be cycle restrictions in place.

Saturday 18 June and Monday 20 June 2016

If intending to travel on train services from Brighton with your bike, you may experience delays as services can only hold a limited number of cycles. A queuing system may be in place at times of high demand on both days.

Our normal peak hours restrictions will be in place on Monday 20 June. Please view our bike policy

Temporary restrictions will apply, with cycles not being permitted on any Thameslink, Southern or Gatwick Express train from the start of service until 12:00.
