Go Super Off Peaking in Shoreditch this weekend!
Get off the beaten track and explore new ways to while away your day by train for less…
The district of Shoreditch has been termed “up and coming” for so long it’s wandered off and established itself as one of the most trendy areas of East London while the rest of us are still busy trying to pin it down. Shoreditch is a vibrant arts and entertainment district boasting a large number of amazing bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and art galleries. The choices for eating out, cocktails and people watching are endless.
Heading into the hipster heart of London can be a hungry business so thank goodness for the masterminds that offered up the genius idea of combining breakfast and lunch… that’s right, kick start your day with some of the finest brunch locations that East London has to offer and you’ll be super fuelled and ready to tackle your Super Off Peaking adventure face on… not to mention Shoreditch has some fantastic opportunities for people watching…
Early birds should head to Jago for their almighty all day breakfast, alternatively make a beeline for the Cereal Killer Café offering 120 different types of cereal from all round the world, it’s a big kids dream come true! Brunch fans should visit The Book Club for buttermilk pancakes that will make you feel like you’ve died and gone to pancake heaven, or for something more cultural for your tastebuds, head to Dishoom and enjoy a Bombay brunch that will blow your mind. Finally for those of you that like your eggs benedict with a side of retro relics then The Breakfast Club is the place to be.
Finish your morning adventure with a wander around the Boxpark – boasting an eclectic mix of labels, indie shops and a fantastic selection of eateries, it’s a brilliant place to grab a bargain and of course, you can never have too many clothes…ahem!
Time to take a lunch break and refuel for the afternoon ahead. Shoreditch isn’t shy when it comes to a fantastic range of places to take in a spot of lunch. If the perfect lunch spot for you is Peruvian then you should immediately hot foot it to Andina, boasting a range of cerviche offerings, classic and street food options, there is plenty there to tickle your tastebuds. For delicious and more traditional lunch offerings, try The Chicken Shop or Lantana Café.
Time to work off that delicious food, if you were wondering how you could achieve that BA Hons in Circus Skills, wonder no more… the National Centre for Circus Arts has got your back. You can even do a day course if you aren’t sure if a degree in circus skills is quite for you, great fun and not for the faint hearted.
If swinging from the rafters is not for you then Shoreditch has vast array of other ways you can merrily spend your time... Visit Whitechapel Gallery famous for debuting artwork by legends such as Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Frida Kahlo – the gallery is open all year round showcasing film, art exhibitions and more. Barter yourself a bargain at the famous Spitalfields market. Or why not pay a visit to Rich Mix, East London’s finest independent Cinema and cross-arts centre. Offering a vibrant assortment of music gigs, theatre shows, art exhibitions, themed festivals and all manner of workshops.
Shoreditch is packed to the rafters with lively bars and funky stylings. Whether you are looking for live music, mind blowing cocktails, craft beers or delicious food, Shoreditch has plenty on offer to give you an unforgettable night out. For dinner visit the infamous Tramshed, Mark Hix's casual chicken-and-steak restaurant within former East End tram-generator building installation by Damian Hirst and menus designed around chicken and steak to share. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. We love post dinner cocktails at Looking Glass with its brilliant nod to “Alice in Wonderland”. After cocktails its on to The Blues Kitchen for live music and beat kicking DJ’s.
Finally, give those boogie shoes a good going over with a trip to Queen of Hoxton, open until 2am offering dance DJs, live music and installations on 3 levels, with roof garden barbecue.
