Harrods, the iconic department store of the rich and famous, has been open for over 150 years. Spread out over a massive seven floors, you’ll find some of the world’s finest luxury items all under one roof.

If you’re feeling peckish, there are 29 different food places at Harrods. Options include Afternoon Tea in the Georgian restaurant, seafood and champagne in the Caviar House Seafood Bar or sushi and sashimi at the Japanese restaurant, Pan Chai.

Portobello Road is the world’s largest antiques market with over 1000 stalls selling every imaginable type of antique and collectable.

Old Spitalfields market keeps things interesting by changing its wares depending on the day of the week. Every Saturday there’s a different theme, you’ll find everything from vintage to designer made items and collectables. Go on Thursday for antiques. Friday is focussed on fashion but the biggest day of the week is Sunday, when the market is filled with up-and-coming new designers.

Visit Columbia Road Flower market on a Sunday for a huge selection of flowers and trees.

Don’t miss the Covent Garden market if you want to browse lots of stalls of antiques, fashion, artwork, homeware, food and jewellery. Stop off for street food and watch the brilliant street performers.

Westfield shopping centre

There are two Westfield shopping centres in London, in Stratford and Shepherds Bush.

Westfield Shepherds Bush has more than 370 shops with a selection of designer and high street labels plus 60 places to eat and a cinema.
Westfield Stratford City is one of Europe’s largest urban shopping centres with over 330 shops plus a cinema, a selection of restaurants and a new library.
